Artist's Satement

Since I was a very young, I have always been fascinated by the mysterious, mystical, bizarre and surreal. I find life’s greatest pleasure in mystery and curiosity. Throughout the years I have come to understand that it is my constant desire to know, rationalize, predict and understand the world around me that fuels this fetish. For no matter how hard I try, the absurd can never be related or relayed in any form of rationality. The works of those such as Max Ernst, Giorgio De Chirico and Leonora Carrington therefore speak to me in a deeply penetrating discourse.

My work is frequently inspired by ancient tales of ghouls and goblins, the fond, surreal memories of childhood, and the occasional vestige of my decaying imagination. My work brings these inspirations of absurdity into balance with my need for rationality through meditative logic of glass work. The repetition and cognizance of glass craft is a firm foot to plant into the solace of rationale as I continue to wander through the folly of life. Through my work I aim to bring to life the energy and emotion I feel when I taste the unknown, grounding it in the most logical and consistent material I know of: Glass.
